January 2 Art Walk Color Theme is SILVER with hints of black and white to celebrate the New Year filled with courage to collaborate, hope, reflection, and idealistic goals for the future. The sparkly color of silver represents shimmering aloft ideals, honorable dedication, imaginative aspirations, transformative thoughtfulness, untarnished resilience, and evolutionary receptiveness. To create inclusion between venues, artists, and audience, everyone is encouraged to participate in the Art Walk’s monthly color themes as a fun community activity in any creative form they wish to express it.
First Friday Art Walk Sequim is a fun and free self-guided tour of local art venues in Sequim on the First Friday of every month from 5:00 – 8:00 PM. Initiated in 2006, the First Friday Art Walk Sequim is an encouraging and educational arts event that is sponsored and produced by Renne Emiko Brock. Our mission is to create approachable and accessible art and cultural venues that encourage the community to connect and celebrate expression and diversity.
Special events for January 2:
The Tenth Annual “Whodunnit Downtown? – The Case of the Back in the Day in the Y2K Glitchy Computer Fraud” Mystery Game is a fun-filled evening where visitors engage with suspects and collect clues at various venues to solve the crime. Play the game for a chance to win a prize during the January 2 First Friday Art Walk Sequim from 5:00 to 7:30 PM. Visitors and sleuths to the “Whodunnit Downtown?” and First Friday Art Walk Sequim are encouraged to dress in the theme colors of silver, black, and white, as well as 2000s-era attire. It is not required, but dressing up makes the evening more fun, festive, and full of laughs.
Our story is set at the turn of the Millennium and everyone is freaking out about how computers will cope with the turn of the times. Will everything be wiped out? Will the world stop turning? Will we go back to life before computers? One thing’s Fo’Shizzle…you don’t wanna miss this game! While everyone is panicking and buying up all the bottled water and preparing their end of the world bunkers, some sketchy baller is taking advantage of the chaos to perpetuate computer fraud on a whole new level! Grab all yo peeps for a Crunk good time! Clues will be chillin’ at various downtown locations!
To play, pick up your game card at any of the participating venues at 5:00 PM. While visiting various Sequim First Friday Art Walk venues for clues, you can mingle with the suspects in our mystery game and try to solve the crime. Fill out your game card and enter it at “Whodunnit Headquarters,” Three Little Birds Studio d’Arte at 112 W. Washington Street, and then be part of the prize drawing for the correct answer at 7:30 PM. No purchase is necessary. Must be 21+ to win. Need not be present to win. The winner is drawn randomly, and the first game card drawn with the correct answer wins the prizes donated by Sequim friends and local businesses.
One mother and daughter team is passing the “Whodunnit Downtown?” baton to a new mother and daughter team to produce this delightful mystery community event! Owners of Western Wander and Three Little Birds Studio d’Arte, Carolee Edwards and her daughter, Patience, are taking the lead from Renne Emiko Brock and her mom, Dona Brock. Though they are new at running the Whodunnit event, Carolee has 15 years real-life sleuth experience as a former police Sergeant and both ladies have produced theatrical dance events at the Sequim High School and YMCA. Renne and Dona, and prior mystery makers friends and cohorts in crime, Vickie Maples and Diane Fatzinger, thank you very much for your sleuthing support and encouragement all these years!

Blue Whole Gallery at 129 W Washington St. features “The Best of the Blue Whole Gallery” exhibition to celebrate the new year with a presentation of their artists’ best work. The gallery windows will display pieces each artist considers to be among their finest. Janet Piccola, gallery president and pottery artist, is curating the presentation. “The Best of Show gives each artist an opportunity to present what they like most about their work,” she said. “My job as curator is to find a way to showcase each piece, presenting that piece in its best light.”

The Blue Whole Gallery is an Artist Cooperative Gallery that has been in the heart of downtown Sequim, Washington for over 25 years. You can discover something new as the main gallery is re-hung every four weeks to coincide with Sequim’s monthly First Friday Art Walks. The gallery displays work from over 25 local artists with expertise in oil, acrylic, watercolor, photography, digital artistry, ceramics, glass, wood, jewelry and more.
Warm and glowing! Sequim Spice and Tea at 139 W Washington St. has unique art including glass, pottery, illustration, and photography of local artists. You can also find artful, creative tea blends, colorful and fun teapots and cups, and cheerful culinary gifts.

The A. Milligan Art Studio & Gallery at 520 N. Sequim Avenue continues to host the Olympic Peninsula Art Association’s Annual Member’s Show and Fundraiser. A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to benefit the OPAA’s Art Scholarship Program, designed to assist graduating high school students fund their future education in the visual arts.

Visitors to the Gallery will have a chance to see the diverse works and various talents of the artist members of the OPAA and this year’s Scholarship Winners. Vote for your favorite artworks in the “People’s Choice Awards”, bid in a silent auction for a beautiful pastel painting by local artist Suzan Noyes, and enter a 50/50 Raffle.

To make things even more interesting, there’s sure to be a clue hiding somewhere in the gallery for those of you participating in the Whodunnit Downtown Mystery Game. You are invited to come join folks for some tasty bites and refreshments, visit with friends, meet the artists, and enjoy the show during this annual fundraising event which runs through January 9, 2026.

Western Wanderer at 108 W Washington St. hosts live music, decorative, storytelling apparel, and creative conversations.
Over the Fence at 118 E. Washington St. hosts local artists in their amazing shop. You can explore your own creative force with pop-up art making!

From 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Rainshadow Café at 157 West Cedar Street has live music with Dawn & Steve. Come sing your favorite songs with a full menu and drinks to enjoy. Some dancing is encouraged too.
Sofie’s Flowers at 127 W Washington St. has their shop full of shiny new year and artful creations from local artists and decorative pieces reflecting the season including décor, plants, flowers, and gifts.
The City of Sequim and the City Arts Advisory Commission invite the public to the Sequim Civic Center at 152 W Cedar St. The “Black & White” art exhibition is on display through mid-January.
Several venues will be closed during the January 2 Art Walk including Alder Wood Bistro, Wind Rose, Forage Gifts & Northwest Treasures, Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County’s Sequim Habitat Boutique Store, Pacific Pantry, and Sequim Museum & Arts.
